The KSDK Visual Journalist & Storyteller (ie. Photo Journalist) will embrace KSDK's standard of news reporting and storytelling excellence while boldly advancing the 5 OYS brand across multiple platforms. Visual Journalist and Storytellers are highly skilled artistic photographers and editors who create sharable and exciting content for broadcast, mobile and social media platforms. VJS' tell great stories on their own or with a team; are familiar with the latest photography, editing tools and techniques; create unique and exciting content on all platforms; are proficient with live news gathering tools; and participate live on air or streaming. Requirements: Use the latest editing and photography tools to tell great stories Produce original content on-air and on all digital platforms that evoke emotion and tell compelling storiesWrite and post daily on all digital platforms (mobile and social media) including attaching images and streaming video Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories Contact sources and develop news stories. Cover breaking, general, sports, feature, investigative, and political news stories. Produce news stories that are unique and captivating Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and suggest story ideasEdit and post video and text content stories for websiteDevelop news sources for general assignment and special areas of interest Operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations Perform other tasks as required by News Content Manager BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field2-5 years of experience preferredExperience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systemsProven ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shotsDemonstrated social media proficiency, especially in the field, including an active news hound presence on Twitter and FacebookMember and active participant in NPPA preferredSNG experienceDemonstrated news judgment, writing skills, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills.Must be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependableUnderstanding of the tenets of professional journalismKnowledge of ENPS, Edius and Axis graphicsOrganizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlinesAbility to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing eventsAbout TEGNA: TEGNA Inc.
