Job DescriptionThe Director Studio Operations establishes and directs the operational standards for all HSN production studios and associated environments and ensures they are maintained according to current industry and safety standards. This individual is accountable for the strategic leadership and support of HSN's day-to-day studio operational functions - including our live 24/7 on-air broadcast, non-live content productions, guest talent communications, rehearsals, construction, maintenance, set blocking, space allocation, VIP tours - and has the cross-organizational authority to determine priorities and best practices for achieving business objectives. As the accountable decision-maker, this individual provides strategic counsel and direction to cross-organizational partners including Category Production, Creative, Broadcast Production, Talent and Guest/Vendor community. The Director Studio Operations has direct budget accountability for the department, including mid and long range capital planning. Reporting to the VP Broadcast Production, the Director Studio Operations is accountable for the 24/7 management of all HSN production studios and associated environments, activities, and processes. This individual is responsible for the strategic leadership, direction and development of the newly formed Studio Operations department encompassing: Scenic Operations, Visual Coordination, Guest Services (Production Assistants) & Culinary teams. Must Haves Undergraduate Degree in Television Production, Management or a related field. 10 years of experience in television or production management is desired; Basic Computer skills required. Previous studio management or production experience in a live television studio Understanding of the technical makeup of a television production studio and studio protocol Understanding of HSN Business initiatives and priorities Understanding of current health, safety and fire regulations Ability to give open and honest feedback for the development of employees Ability to establish departmental budgets Working knowledge of Studio resource scheduling systems Strong interpersonal and communication skills Strong influencing and negotiation skills Ability to concentrate for prolonged periods of time Ability to comprehend complex information Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, fax machines, photocopiers etc. Ability to maintain attendance as defined by company policy Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50lbs Candidates will be considered in totality of their skills and experience versus strict interpretation of \must haves\.
