WSP is currently initiating a search for a Technical Editor-Writer
for our Las Vegas, Nevada
WSP is currently seeking a Technical Editor/Writer
to be located in Las Vegas, NV
(or other major WSP office, i.e., Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, or Washington, DC) to support client deliverables, proposals, and other internal and external communication pieces for our Advisory group. Advisory combines the firm’s infrastructure expertise and management consulting leadership in order to serve as trusted advisors to owners, operators, developers, and builders of infrastructure across the globe. We help clients solve business and operational problems throughout the entire business cycle and set the foundation for program and project delivery so that our clients can better serve their customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Plan, develop, organize, write, and edit client deliverables, including reports, manuals, presentations, and proposals
Plan, develop, organize, write, and edit project profiles and resumes
Ensure WSP documents achieve the highest degree of writing quality by checking for readability, comprehension, consistency, clarity, conciseness, and logic
Check documents for correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, format, and writing style
Take the work of multiple authors to create documents with a unified voice
Help achieve corporate consistency in style, formatting, and presentation of WSP deliverables
Develop and manage technical report library
Provide internal training to improve the technical writing skills of other PB professionals, as well as how to prepare reader-friendly documents
We seek an energetic, motivated candidate with strong people, communication, and organizational skills. In addition, writing, editing, and computer skills are required. Other skills should include:
Five or more years of experience as a technical editor, preferably at a large multi-disciplinary firm (e.g., engineering, environmental, or other consulting company).
Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, journalism, communications, English, or comparable discipline is required
Equivalent education, training, and/or work experience in technical writing and editing acceptable
Key skills: grammar, creativity, communication, computer, publishing, and communication tools
Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Familiarity with Adobe InCopy (and preferably InDesign) desired
Good command of the English language, spelling, punctuation, and basic rules of composition; familiarity with the
Chicago Manual of Style
Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and problem-solving skills required Attention to detail, a professional demeanor, and a team player with the ability to self-direct. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with a commitment to superior client service required
Ability to work virtually with project teams across the U.S.
Ability to work in this country immediately is required
