The Communications Planning and Media Investment (CPMI) team has scaled significantly as we've expanded our consumer marketing efforts across our family of apps and services. The increase in volume in complexity presents opportunities in how we scale our discipline and engage more meaningfully with both our internal and external partners.

The Head of Media Operations will be a member of the Communication Planning and Media Investment team, which is part of the Consumer Marketing organization. They will be part of the CPMI Leadership Team, and report directly into the Head of Communications Planning and Media Investment. Their remit will span FB Blue App, Messenger, WhatsApp and AR/VR. They will serve as a thought leader and be the main point of contact with both internal and external Operations counterparts representing our team across various workstreams and driving operational excellence across key areas such as media planning, media investment tracking, commercial and contracts management and team enablement.

The Head of Media Operations would need to excel in a fast-paced environment and be effective at establishing collaborative working relationships with various teams across disciplines and levels. The successful candidate must be an experienced operations manager with media and marketing experience, be data-driven, solutions orientated, and consistent self-starter who proactively identifies risks and opportunities improve and drive efficiencies in the team.

Required Skills:

Planning: Manage consumer marketing campaign planning cycles for Communications Planning and Media Investment working with marketing and product timelines across the Org and partnering closely with the broader Consumer Marketing Ops team and ensure consistency and cross-organizational alignment. Work with CPMI leadership counterparts to facilitate cross-functional planning including communications, leading offsites, etc. Clearly communicate and escalate issues related to staying on schedule and synthesizing data to provide roll-ups and presentations of work.

On-going Operations: Manage projects within teams to support leads’ immediate requirements e.g. launch calendars, air traffic control and invoice tracking/monthly accruals. Track activities on projects and establish a clear path and owners of next steps. Identify and optimize internal processes for the best results. Identify risks and issues and escalate as needed or resolve.

Budget and Resource Management: Manage individual teams’ forecasts and budgets and problem solve around spend, ensure consistent PR/PO process and risk mitigate for SOX compliance and accruals on a monthly basis. Provide regular summaries of investment tracking and channel allocation VS key business results. Work with the Investment Practice Manager and External Agency to management portfolio media dollars across the Org. Partner with Finance and the internal Marketing Ops team on the stewardship of on and off platform budgets.

Partnership: Develop and build strong partnerships with leads and stakeholders across the organization and their immediate cross-functional partners, ensure on-going communications and strategic engagement, identify ways to increase collaboration and engagement.

Operationalizing Strategic Initiatives: Work with the CPMI leadership team to operationalize strategic initiatives within the teams. Coordinate with sister Operations teams to deploy key initiatives across marketing borne out of CPMI. Increase visibility of team leads, initiatives and campaigns with executive communications, presentations, etc.

Org-Impact Strategic Operations: Identify new or existing projects, processes, and communications for opportunities to improve run-the-business operations within teams that will scale, providing efficiencies that will positively impact the entire CPMI team and beyond.

Tools & Systems: Partner with the relevant CPMI lead and internal stakeholders on tools and systems required to deliver on the team strategy and outputs, including running the RFP/selection process, keeping the project on track and overseeing the onboarding and implementation of the tools.

Prioritization: Help prioritize competing needs for the team by working hand in hand with the internal Marketing Ops team. Help leads prioritize in-team projects, initiatives and campaigns.

Minimum Qualifications:

BA/BS degree

8 years of experience in media agency, marketing or in-house media team, in part in an Operations role

5 years management experience

Experience working with and developing strategic relationships with cross-functional partners to develop and define project plans and deliverables and milestones

Communication experience including experience simplifying and communicating ideas to stakeholders

Experience working on executive level communications

Hands-on experience with deploying project and program management techniques and tools

Experience working independently in a creative environment

Preferred Qualifications:


Comfortable with ambiguity and have experience working in fast-paced/dynamic environments
