The Regional Media Planning Supervisor oversees and coordinates Nissan’s media planning efforts within the assigned region. The Media Planning Supervisor must effectively interact with Nissan’s regional marketing staff, the agency’s regional account team and media team. Routinely, the Media Supervisor will oversee the development and presentation of traditional and digital media plans and buys to the Nissan regional marketing team.
Oversee the planning, implementation, and day-to-day stewardship of Nissan’s media planning and buying in the assigned region. Work with the Associate Media Director and/or Group Media Director to develop media objectives and strategies that reflect Nissan’s marketing objectives. Develop the skills and knowledge base of the Media Planner(s), and any other junior staff who are part of the group.
Develop the media strategy and tactics that are incorporated into the plan
Manage the development of media plans for all advertised markets in the assigned region
Provide analysis for ongoing plan assessment and any necessary plan revisions
Prepare all materials for meetings and presentations
When called upon, travel to various markets to present plan information to local Nissan staff (DOMs, dealers, etc.)
Plan, negotiate and buy local digital media for assigned markets
Consistently explore alternative or opportunistic media options
Consistently provide details and analysis of plan delivery
Develop formal presentations for regional clients covering media plans as well as any relevant and timely media topics
Develop recommendations for investment of media savings
Manage account team and client requests/projects (via status reports)
Manage interaction of the media team with the OMD buying group
Provide day-to-day supervision of the media planner and other junior staff and maximize their involvement in all aspects of the media planning process
Monitor all planner and junior staff work for accuracy
Manage media team’s workload
Supervise the training of the planner and all junior staff
Prepare or supervise the preparation of media POV’s
Minimum 4 years agency experience
Client contact experience
Self starter and focused work ethic
Prior experience in local planning preferred
Digital media experience preferred
Retail experience (especially automotive) preferred
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
4 years media planning experience as a Planner, Supervisor or Assistant Media Director (AMD)
Demonstrated presentation and writing skills, specifically including direct client interaction
Proven ability to develop quality, well-conceived and successful media plans
Experience directly managing a staff of one or more
Experience managing and coordinating inter-departmental efforts
Experience negotiating with and managing print vendors
MS Office: Internet Explorer, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Experience or familiarity using industry media planning tools: Donovan/Media Ocean, Media Tools, MRI Research, TNS, DDS/Strata/DataTech, etc.
Preferred qualifications include retail (automotive) experience, understanding of interactive advertising and prior local planning experience preferred.
