Weather Anchor Jobs

A weather anchor gathers and processes information leading to the development of weather reports for on-air presentation. A weather anchor presents weather forecasts with understanding and confidence, whether reporting live from the scene or in the studio. A weather anchor monitors weather and related conditions. A weather anchor prepares, writes, produces, and presents weather broadcasts and also creates state-of-the-art graphics and pre-production elements. A weather anchor reports to the news director, producing and broadcasting weather segments for weekend newscasts and other assigned times as needed. A weather anchor should have proficiency in weather analysis and forecasting. A weather anchor must ensure that all content meets the standards for journalistic integrity and production quality. A weather anchor assists in coordinating weather programming on multiple platforms.
A weather anchor should have a college degree in journalism or meteorology, and two years of experience in a commercial television news environment is preferred. A strong candidate should be mature and composed -- especially under pressure. A weather anchor must have good presence on camera, strong reporting and writing skills, and excellent communications skills. A strong candidate must be able to work under deadline pressures and have good knowledge of computer weather graphics.
