Anchor Jobs
An anchor gathers, writes, and presents on air, material relating to the community, usually in the form of a news story segment on regular station newscast. An anchor keeps up-to-date news story developments of interest to viewers in the community and throughout the world, and maintains liaison with leading community figures in the area and to the extent possible, nationwide. An anchor has to present a limited amount of news commentary. An anchor participates directly in production or promotional material relating to news. An anchor has to interact positively and productively with fellow employees. An anchor is responsible for the production and reporting of news. An anchor works in schedule based on 24/7 delivery of news and information. An anchor should have familiarity with audio production, news software, and content management systems required-Web-based reporting and editing tools a plus.
An anchor should preferably have a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Experience of 2+ years in anchoring and/or web journalism is an advantage. Knowledge of television production and editing is important. An anchor must have excellent writing and speech delivery skills, communication skills required for on-air presentation and interaction with the public. An anchor should have excellent reading skills, and have superior equipment knowledge including microphones, teleprompter, cameras, recording equipment and editing equipment.
