Media Manager Jobs
A media manager acts as a liaison between her/his community and the council by informing local media (newspapers, magazines, and television stations) and service units about events, activities, and accomplishments. A media manager promotes and publicizes events such as recruitment, product sales, service unit special events, troop activities, service unit projects, etc. at the local community level. A media manager provides media kits and guidelines prepared by the council communications department. A media manager seeks the active support of the community. A media manager informs the public of timely and noteworthy troop and community activities through newspaper articles, interviews, and photo opportunities. A media manager establishes and maintains strong contact with local news media. A media manager provides the council communications department with articles and feedback on local media coverage. A media manager tracks and maintains media files for the community. A media manager remains well informed of newsworthy service unit activities and events and alerts the communications department as necessary.
A media manager should have bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications or journalism. A strong candidate should have a minimum of one year of experience in media activities. A potential media manager must be actively involved in a media-related profession. A strong candidate should have strong organizational and computer skills. A media manager should also have a spirit of enthusiasm and adventure.
