Camera Operator Jobs

A camera operator works on major feature films usually with a crew. A camera operator does the actual shooting according to the cinematographer's instructions. A camera operator threads the camera and set the focus. A camera operator is in charge of all shooting, lighting, and, in some cases, directing. Candidate measures original layouts and determine proportions needed to make reduced or enlarged photographic prints for paste up. A camera operator exposes high contrast film for predetermined exposure time. A camera operator performs exposure tests to determine line, halftone, and color reproduction exposure lengths for various photographic factors. Candidate adjusts camera settings, lights, and lens. A camera operator takes sole responsibility in situations where there is only one camera operator involved in the filming;

A camera operator should have a high school education and previous job experience in the same field. Strong understanding of framing and shot composition is important. A camera operator should have ability to build camera configurations from long lens to handheld professional handheld or sports lens.
