Theatre Manager Jobs

A theater manager is responsible for scheduling all performances, tours, and events held on the main stage of the performing arts center, as well as for managing the box office, negotiating with vendors, and maintaining public relations for the facility. A theater manager also has responsibility for fulfilling the various requirements for successful theater productions. A theater manager also insures the highest food and beverage quality and proper presentation. A theater manager sets up the theater dining room for service and coordinates the activities of all housemen. A theater manager provides clear communication of event needs to operating partners. A theater manager controls all asset inventories. A theater manager trains and schedules for proper staffing. A theater manager provides oversight of the service staff, including training, scheduling, and disciplinary actions. A theater manager purchases and receives goods for events.
A theater manager should have a bachelor’s degree in theater management and prior costuming experience. A strong candidate should also have good customer service skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills. A theater manager must be able to work independently and under pressure. A theater manager should likewise be able to work on weekends and holidays.
