Radio Jobs

A radio anchor prepares and delivers news, sports, and/or weather reports; gathers and rewrites material so that it conveys the required information and fits specific time slots; reads news flashes to inform audiences of important events; identifies stations; and introduces or closes shows using scripts and/or ad-libs. A radio anchor selects program content in conjunction with producers and assistants based on factors such as program specialties, audience tastes, and requests from the public. A radio anchor studies background information in order to prepare for programs or interviews. A radio anchor comments on music and other matters such as weather and traffic conditions. A radio anchor interviews guests about their lives, work, or topics of current interest. A radio anchor discusses various topics over the telephone with listeners. A radio anchor also hosts civic, charitable, or promotional events that are broadcast by his or her station.
A radio anchor should have a college degree in communications, mass media, or journalism and previous job experience of at least six months. A radio anchor should have good speaking, time management, critical thinking, and communication skills. A radio anchor should also have the ability to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand them clearly.
